Hey y’all, My name is Amber Kornegay and I am the face behind Ember Fire Arts. I am a 29 year old Native of a small town called Cove City in North Carolina. A town so small that if you drive by it and blink you’ll miss it! It has always been a dream of mine to put my small town on the map and represent them in a positive and impactful way. But anyways, a little bit about me! I was raised by a very young, single mom of three. We were the type of family where we didn't always have what we wanted but she always made sure we had what we needed. Growing up like this wasn't always easy or ideal, but it gave me a completely different perspective on life. It was instilled in me at a young age that a woman can do anything a man can do, if we set our minds to it. It definitely made me a "woman's woman" and I work hard at trying to empower women to step outside of their comfort zone. My mom always wanted better for her children. She, along with the rest of my family, especially my Granddaddy, have always said "nothing in life comes easy". This gave me the motivation to work hard for the things I wanted in life. I didn't care how long it took me to accomplish them. It taught me to be independent and always keep a goal driven mindset. Like my family always said "It doesn't matter how many times you fall down, as long as you keep getting back up". To me, this show is more than a Fire Performance. This show is my life. Literally. I speak on my struggles that came along with reaching my goals. I speak on the importance of chasing your dreams. At the end of the day, the main goal with this show is definitely to inspire the younger generation to know their worth, to prioritize personal goals, to work hard and to ALWAYS chase their dreams."
"I have always been a pyro and had this crazy fascination with fire. It started at a very young age. My mom absolutely hated it. My brother was a firefighter, I was the fire starter. So you could imagine my moms mental state lol. In my younger years I always caught things on fire for fun, maybe it was the adrenaline junkie in me. My journey with fire performing didn’t start until around 2013, fresh out of high school. It was in Raleigh N.C where I was introduced to what we call “flow arts” and at this show I saw a performer who had a set of LED poi and an LED hula hoop. I remember standing out in the crowd in awe, thinking it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. Especially coming from a small town like Cove City where you don’t get to see stuff like that. Heading home from the show that night I was researching these LED props online and ordered them with the little money I had at the time. They took a few weeks for them to come in, but once they came in and I started practicing, I was hooked. It became an everyday affair for me. It was my escape from reality and gave me a good outlet from life, keeping me out of trouble in my younger days. Once I got comfortable with my LED props I started researching more and found that I could buy these same props, but with FIRE. And that opened a whole new level of happiness for the pyromaniac in me! So of course I ordered them and slowly transitioned myself from using LED props to strictly fire props. You see, I am a self taught fire performer, with the exception of fire eating. I did pay for professional training, simply because there are so many risks with fire eating that could compromise your health in very negative ways. Safety is always number one! What I do is EXTREMELY dangerous and although I love it, I TOTALLY respect it. I have purchased many props over the years. Everytime a new one came in, I would work on mastering it and on to the next. Over the years, I would perform here and there, but nothing too serious. Life happened, I got married, got a full time job, bought a house, the world really stepped in and there was not much time for "playing with fire". In my spare time I would still continue to practice and learn new things, but never really pressed things any further. Until one fateful night in December 2021..."
Meeting Jim Earp. "For everyone who has been living on another planet, Jim is the well known owner of Earp Entertainment Services in Smithfield, NC. Celebrating it's 45th year in business, Earp Entertainment Services is one of the largest, full service Entertainment Companies in the South East. It was December 3rd, 2021 and I was at the State high school semi final football game in Princeton. I had traveled there with my husband at the time who was an Army recruiter at the school. We arrived early and I was left out on the field before the game while he went to attend to somes duties. There was no one on the field but me and one other guy, and he looked to be setting up something, but I couldn't figure out what it was. A side bar......The Governer had placed a burning ban in the State that week and apparently that did not sit well with the Princeton Fans, as they had been setting off fireworks before the games as the team advanced through the playoffs. Long story short, the fireworks company only knew one person to call.....Jim. Now back to the story, I ask him, what are you doing? He said, I can't tell you, it's a secret, and I can tell that you can't keep a secret. We laughed, and of course told me. He was setting up Concert Firework Simulators to create that same excitment for the fans, in place of the real thing. As we talked more, I learned that he did just about everything in entertainment, including representing artist and acts of all kinds. I brought up the fact that I was a fire performer, and then the serious conversation began!! The more I talked, the more he listened. I could almost see the wheels turning in his head. By the end of the football game, he pitched me an entire concept he had created, thinking about it while we were talking. I had expressed my desire to get out to perform more. He expressed his interest in making that very thing happen. So we exchanged numbers, and after about a week or so of conversation over the phone, he and I had put together his vision of a family friendly fire show, based on everything I told him I could do. Something that you just don't get to see everyday, up close and personal. I ask, do you really think you can sell this. He said,"Just watch". I couldn't believe it. Just a few weeks later, in a blink of an eye, he had me booked for shows. And the rest, as they say, is history. He was able to book me for my 1st professional show in June, and multiple dates in the Fall at county fairs all accross North Carolina including a full 11 day run at the NC State Fair in Raleigh, all in my first year. It was a dream come true, and now a really big test for me. I really didn't know how far I wanted to take this, how much my body could take, and how far it could go. Nervous and Excited all at the same time. But I got to work practicing and putting the show together with Jim, and I did it. By the end of the season, he looked at me and only had one question, "so....what do you want to do?" There was no question in my mind. It had been my dream and I just lived it. I lived it, I survived it, and I had fallen in love with performing. I mean really performing in this incredible arena, and now I have this tremendous opportunity before me. And because of all the amazing people I met that year, all the kind words that were said about the show and the overwelming encouragement from everyone I spoke to, I made a decision and I decided to turn professional."
"It was always a dream of mine to one day be able to fire perform full time. I just never would have believed that it would happen so quickly, and almost overnight. It's a huge step for me!!!! Really BIG! And scary. But it's been my dream, so I have to go for it. I have learned so much about business, and how to operate my own business in such a short time. The entire experience has been a bit overwelming at times, but the growth I have had has been priceless. With all of the change recently in my personal life, I believe that there is no better time than right now to embrace fully the opportunity in front me. The support from my team, my family, my friends, and all of the people I have met at shows (my fan family), has meant everything to me!! I am totally committed to continuing to hone my craft, expand my prop arsonal, and grow my show to the very best it can be!! I really can't wait to get to the next show and perform for everyone. Loving Life Right Now!!"
